Travel by plane is usually the fastest and most comfortable way to get to a destination, be it for leisure or work.

That's assuming you're flying business- or first-class. Some airlines, such as Emirates, offer first-class passengers a shower-spa for "an invigorating shower at 43,000 feet."

But on some airlines, United for example, you might end up using napkins instead of toilet paper. The U.S. airline recently forgot to stock up on toilet paper before embarking on a 10-hour international flight.

Closer to home, an Air Canada pilot was put on medical leave after he left the cockpit mid-flight and started screaming, asking to get off the plane.

And if you're in the economy cabin, your aerial aggravation will likely be doubled.

To find out which airlines maximize your woes in the sky, Business Insider put together a list of the world's worst airlines to fly economy.

BI looked at several major international airlines and compared ratings — from 1 to 5 — from SkyTrax, a leading airline reviewer. It also took reader reviews and scores from Skytrax into account.

Grading factors in the list included quality of food, seat comfort, in-flight entertainment, cabin cleanliness and service efficiency, culminating in a final overall experience score out of 100 for each airline.

A stand-out from BI's list is Nepal Airlines, which once sacrificed two goats to appease a Hindu god after a technical glitch.
