White Wolf: Saskatchewan Sighting Proves There Is At Least One Of These Rare Animals

WATCH: Rare White Wolf Spotted

A rare white wolf has been spotted plying the waters of a northern Saskatchewan lake.

Bob Thacker told CBC News he was on a fishing expedition on Shadd Lake when he spotted something swimming in the water.

"I saw what I thought was a bit fat duck," he said. "And as we approached it I thought that's not a duck, it's like a polar bear or an albino bear."

Approaching the animal from their boat, it became clear that it was a white wolf, also known as the Arctic or polar wolf -- an increasingly less frequent sight in Canada's north.
