VANCOUVER - Vancouver police have confirmed that the man found after an arson fire in South Vancouver was murdered.
Police have identified the man as 20-year-old Edward Stobie Billy.
His body was found on June 15 by fire crews who attended the afternoon fire in a basement suite of a home.
Police say crime and forensic units conducted a through examination of the crime scene in order to determine that the death was the city's third murder so far this year.
In a strange coincidence, a family had gathered in the upstairs suite of the home to grieve the loss of an elderly woman who had died the same day in a bus accident.
Police say they haven't made any arrests in connection to the murder.
