Calgary mayor Naheed Nenshi drove a ceremonial Calgary Transit train on Wednesday to mark the opening of the transit network after the flood.
A 100-metre-stretch of track that was damaged by flooding had to be replaced and three tunnels were full of water.
"An enormous amount of work has been completed by Calgary Transit crews over a short period of time," said Calgary Transit in a statement.
"This is extraordinary," said Nenshi. "It was 13 days ago that we first saw pictures of the track on the south line of the CTrain looking like a midway ride in the Stampede."
Transit workers stood by the tracks and cheered as Nenshi took controls of the train.
Nenshi thanked Calgary Transit employees and contractors who helped reopen the south portion of the light rail transit line.
