Thailand seems rather intent on cleaning up its police force.
In addition to fat camp for overweight cops, there's, well Hello Kitty.
Misbehaving police officers will now be emasculated in public, forced to wear the adorably iconic kitty's face along with a pair of linked hearts.
"Simple warnings no longer work,” police colonel Pongpat Chayaphan told the New York Times.
“This new twist is expected to make them feel guilt and shame and prevent them from repeating the offense, no matter how minor. Kitty is a cute icon for young girls. It’s not something macho police officers want covering their biceps.”
Transgressions include littering, parking illegally or even tardiness.
"We should not let small offences go unnoticed," Police Colonel Pongpat Chayapan told Reuters.
"Guilty officers will be made to wear the armbands in the office for a few days, with instructions not to disclose their offences. Let people guess what they have done."
Top brass is expected, naturally, to impose tougher measures for more serious charges, such as corruption and extra-judicial killings.
