Conservative Alberta MPs, who hold 26 of the 28 seats in the province, will need to discuss the effects of the new electoral boundaries in the province because significant riding boundary changes in the province also mean current MPs will likely expect nomination challenges, Conservative MPs tell The Hill Times.

Conservative MP Kevin Sorenson (Crowfoot, Alta.) said MPs in the province "can expect that there may be challenges in nominations" in some ridings in Alberta, when six more ridings will be added as part of the 10-year electoral redistribution process and where some boundaries have been altered quite dramatically. Alberta will go from 28 ridings to 34 ridings.
