Kids' Day at the Calgary Stampede means many things get shrunken down to accommodate the little ones, but that was not the case with the crowds this year.
Thousands of families turned out bright and early this morning to take advantage of the free admission - some families even showed up as early as 6 a.m.

Lineups for face-painting at the BMO Kids Zone stretched as far as the eye could see and plenty of little faces were stained blue and pink from bags of sticky cotton candy.
The Canadian National Miniature Horse Show was an especially popular hit with the kids, likely because horses are much more approachable when you can look them in the eye.
