This year's attendance at the Calgary Stampede won't break any records, but considering the grounds were under water several weeks ago the number of people through the gates is quite impressive.
According to Stampede officials the one-millionth person made their way on park sometime Saturday night. The total tally as of end-of-evening Saturday was 1,009,788 people.
Saturday was also the busiest day of the 101st Calgary Stampede, so far, with 143,744 stepping on grounds.
Overall attendance is slightly behind the 2010 and 2011 editions of the fair, and way behind last year's centennial celebration, but many would say it was a remarkable feat to even have a Stampede this year, just weeks after the park was hit by significant flooding.
The most people to ever squeeze onto the grounds was the first Sunday in 2012, when 184,483 people came out to celebrate the fair's Family Day.
Organizers have repeatedly said that this year's numbers should not be compared to 2012's centennial.
"An anomaly was our centennial celebration," said Stampede spokesperson Jennifer Booth.
