A community is in mourning after two brothers lost their lives in a violent crash in Strathcona County on Monday.

The siblings were killed when the Saturn sedan the brothers were travelling in was struck by a pick-up truck as they entered Highway 16 from Range Road 213. The two were pronounced dead at the scene.

The teens have been identified as Dalin Torresan, 17, and Logan Torresan, 14, both of rural Strathcona County.

The driver of the GMC pick-up truck, a 54-year-old man from Willingdon, Alberta, was transported by ambulance to an Edmonton area hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

"My two nephews were taken way too soon. Can't imagine the hell that my brother Dean and his family are experiencing," said the boys' aunt Wendy Brownlie on Facebook.

The brothers were avid arm wrestlers, winning national titles in 2012. The sport was in their genes, as their father Dean, who was once the two-time Canadian champion, also won silver and bronze in the Masters division at the competition, CBC reports.

A memorial page has been set-up on Facebook for the brothers, with thousands coming together to share their grief.

"The preliminary investigation indicates that the driver of the Saturn failed to proceed safely after stopping at the stop sign then entered Highway 16 resulting in the collision," said Strathcona County RCMP in a statement.

Alcohol or speed are not considered to be contributing factors of the collision.
