Thunderstorm leaves more than 9,000 without power in Montreal

A total of 9,366 households and businesses are out of power in Montreal after the city was hit by a major thunderstorm this afternoon.

The temperature dropped 10 degrees in less than 45 minutes as the storm rolled into the city.

Residents prepared for possible flash flooding as Environment Canada issued a severe thunderstorm warning for Montreal on Wednesday afternoon.

The majority of power outages were reported on the West Island, including Dollard-des-Ormeaux, Pierrefonds, Île-Bizard, Pointe-Claire and Beaconsfield.
