Three men have been charged with attempted murder after a series of violent attacks in Edmonton early Saturday morning.
Police were called to the area of 95 Street and 110 Avenue after a man was severely beaten in a back alley close to his residence, allegedly by two of the suspects.
Staff Sergeant Malcolm Allan said the man heard a commotion outside his house. When he went outside to investigate he was beaten so badly he suffered head injuries, including a fractured skull, Global News reports.
The 46-year-old was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries.
The same two suspects allegedly also broke into a home in the same area after.
They assaulted another man, who outwitted the alleged attackers by telling them he had more money in his car and escaped, the Edmonton Journal reports.
As the suspects fled the scene, one was apprehended by the canine unit when he allegedly threatened a patrol member.
A residence in the 96 Street and 110A Avenue area was allegedly broken into after, and the home owner fought off the suspect and suffered non-life threatening injuries.
“Unbeknownst to the attacker, the gentleman keeps a machete in his bedroom,” Allan told the Edmonton Journal, saying the homeowner fought for his life after the attacker broke in through a bedroom window at 3 a.m.
Police confirm the canine unit tracked and apprehended the second suspect shortly after.
Tyrone Isadore, 27, is charged with attempted murder, break and enter and committing assault, among other charges.
Brian Bergey, 26, is charged with attempted murder and two counts of breach of recognizance.
Jesse Bergey, 21, is charged with attempted murder.
