Woman's Fatal Fall From Vancouver Condo Not Likely Homicide

Vancouver police say the death of a woman who fell from a balcony at a luxury highrise over the weekend is not likely a homicide.

At a news conference Tuesday morning, police said they were still investigating and hadn’t determined if the woman’s death was accidental. Police had said on Monday the death was being treated as suspicious.

An autopsy is scheduled to be conducted later this week.

The woman in her 20s, whose name has not been released, fell to her death at about 5 p.m. PT Sunday in the 1400 block of Howe Street in downtown Vancouver.

CBC News has learned the suite the woman fell from is owned by Tyler Duffy, a cosmetic dentist in Kitsilano. Witnesses have identified the victim as Ranita Arnold.

It's unclear if Duffy was in the condo at the time of the incident.

Police have said they've spoken with someone who lives in the condo, but have not provided any additional details.

Neighbours say there had been a wild party on the same floor the night before.

Police are asking anyone who may have heard or seen anything suspicious to come forward.
