Summer festivals, construction close roads this weekend

A combination of festivals and construction work will result in a slew of road closures in Toronto this weekend.

Three major events will close off road traffic in the downtown core and toward the east end, and continued resurfacing and repair of roads — part of the $155 million worth of construction taking place on more than 100 kilometres of road this summer — will contribute to heavy traffic.

The Beaches Jazz Festival will close Queen Street East from Woodbine Avenue to Beech Avenue from 6 p.m. to midnight on Thursday, Friday and Saturday.

The Live Green Toronto Festival will close a stretch of Yonge Street, between Edward Street and Queen Street, on Saturday from 6:30 a.m. to midnight.

The Multicultural Exploration of Canada festival will see the Ashtonbee Road, from Warden Avenue to Thermos Road, closed from Saturday at 6 a.m. to Sunday at midnight.
