Ottawa man killed in Quebec ATV excursion

A 42-year-old man has died in an ATV crash while on a work excursion about three hours north of Ottawa.

A group of 18 workers from the Canadian Internet Registration Authority was on a team-building exercise in Ferme-Neuve, Que., Thursday around 3:30 p.m. when an ATV crashed into a tree.

Quebec provincial police said one man was taken to hospital where he was later pronounced dead. A woman was also injured in the crash.

CIRA has identified the victim as Richard Wong of Ottawa. Police said he was wearing a helmet when he ventured off the trail.

According to the agency, two guides were leading the employees as they were heading in a single file. It has brought in grief counsellors to help staff members cope with the death.
