Police probe fatal shooting at Brampton banquet hall

A man was shot dead inside a banquet hall in Brampton, Ont., on Sunday morning and police are still gathering information about what happened.

Peel Regional Police Const. Thomas Ruttan said that a call came in at 4:15 a.m. about shots being fired at a banquet hall on Bovaird Drive.

A male victim was shot in the chest and succumbed to his injuries at the scene, Ruttan said.

Ruttan could not confirm on whether the victim was attending an event at the banquet hall when he was shot.

But he said the shooting took place "within the banquet hall."

Homicide investigators are now in charge of the case, Ruttan said.
