B.C. woman dies after rollover on Yukon highway

A woman from Kelowna, B.C., died Monday following a car crash on a Yukon highway last Friday.

The B.C. and Yukon Coroners offices are investigating the woman’s death.

On Friday Ross River RCMP were called to a rollover accident about 90 kilometres south of the community on the Robert Campbell Highway.

Police say a 43-year-old Haines Junction man lost control on some washboard road and wound up rolling the vehicle into the ditch.

Investigators put the accident down to road conditions and said neither alcohol or excessive speed played a role.

The driver and a 50-year-old female passenger were taken to the nursing station in Ross River but they declined medical treatment.

Two days later the Kelowna woman was again taken to the nursing station and was medevaced to Whitehorse and then on to Vancouver.

She died in hospital on Monday from a suspected head injury.

Police are not releasing the woman’s name. The investigation is continuing.
