Boater missing on Outaouais River

A search is under way for a boater who disappeared on the Outaouais River last night.

Quebec provincial police and the coast guard are scouring the area around Saint-Placide after a 54-year-old man failed to turn up at the marina last night.

The man's boat was located at nearby Carillon Island overnight, but he remains unaccounted for.

Searchers are looking on land and in the water for any traces of the missing boater.

Provincial police divers have arrived on the scene.
