Surrey Memorial Hospital was locked down following a double-shooting that left one man in critical condition and another with minor injuries on Friday afternoon.
After the two victims arrived at the hospital, police were called in and the emergency room at the hospital was closed to visitors for several hours.
RCMP say the shooting took place around 3 p.m. PT when shots were exchanged between the occupants of a gold-coloured compact car and a dark foreign sports car on 126 Street near 58 Avenue in Surrey.
Sgt. Drew Granger said police believe it was a targeted shooting.
"We don't know if it's gang- or drug-related at this time. It certainly has all the earmarks of a targeted event, but a very brazen event. This is a very congested residential area and just a despicable act that has occurred here."
Nobody else was reported injured in the incident.
