Teen Dies In Abbotsford Car Crash

A 19-year-old man has died and three others have been injured in a car crash in Abbotsford early this morning.

The accident happened at about 2:15 a.m. when a red Acura skidded off the road in a rural area northwest of the city, at Townline and Olund Roads, Abbotsford Police say.

Const. Ian MacDonald says speed may have played a part in the crash, which happened on a windy, hilly stretch of road.

“Our collision reconstruction experts will give us an exact speed of the vehicle, but seeing the damage to it, it's part of the reason we believe that speed would have been a contributing factor,” MacDonald said.

Police believe the man who died was a passenger in the car.

The other occupants, all men in their 20s, were treated in hospital for non life-threatening injuries.

Police are also investigating whether alcohol was involved.

They are searching for any witnesses to the crash.
