It was a fateful day in April 2012, when a girl from Germany and a rocker from the Prairies laid eyes on each other.
Then magic happened for Nina Schmidt and Jarred Greff on the #3 bus going up Main Street.
"It sounds cheesy, but I would call it love at first sight,” Schmidt wrote in a short entry written for TransLink's ‘I Love Transit’ contest.
The pair chatted briefly, but didn’t exchange phone numbers, so Schmidt tracked him down at his place of work later that day, with some prodding from friends.
"A couple days later, we went on a 22-hour date and we’ve been inseparable ever since,” she added.
The pair still marvels at the randomness of finding love on a bus.
"I had to run after that bus that day, and Jarred didn’t plan on taking it, but he was running late to work," she wrote.
Wedding guests were simply told to come to the bus stop today at Burrard and 15th Avenue at 3 p.m. PT.
Translink provided the couple with the bus.
