Canada has been unveiled as this year’s Celebration of Light winner, beating teams from the United Kingdom and Thailand, organizers announced in a news release Wednesday.

“We had terrific weather for all three nights,” said festival producer Andrea Dowd-Dever.

“It is wonderful to see so many people enjoying this amazing event and we can’t wait for next year.”

Judges marked displays on five criterias: presentation and scale, colour variety, originality, production quality, and music synchronization. This year, results from a public online vote were also folded into the judges’ final decision.

Over three nights, approximately 1.2 million people attended the annual summer celebration of pyrotechnics.

Dates for next year’s festivities will be announced in September.
