Police investigate east end restaurant fire

Toronto Fire and Police are investigating a fire at a restaurant in the city’s east end early Wednesday morning.

The front window of the restaurant at Lawrence Avenue East and Pharmacy Avenue was broken, but most of the damage is outside the business.

Heat from the fire melted part of a nearby Canada Post mailbox.

Firefighters filled the mailbox with water to make sure the fire was out, possibly damaging all the letters inside.

The cause of the fire is not yet known.
