St-Laurent balcony collapse traps woman under debris

Several people were injured last night when a third-floor balcony collapsed on a residential building in Montreal's St. Laurent borough.

Six people were thrown to the ground when the balcony collapsed at the three-storey building on Place Benoit.

A seventh person — who had been standing on the balcony below — was trapped underneath the debris.

Firefighters were called to help extricate the woman in her 20s.

She and another person suffered serious injuries, but everyone is expected to recover.
