City administration has presented a proposal to council that would see $100 fines imposed and cars towed away.
Utility services manager Jeff Jorgensen says up until now, city workers have simply left it up to residents whether or not to move their vehicles.
He says the proposal would also include a more thorough notification process so people have a good chance to get out of the way of city crews.
Jorgensen says leaving it up to residents resulted in 90 cars being left on the streets during spring cleaning this spring, resulting in complaints about the city not doing its job.
Council will decide on the future of the project Wednesday.
