Lisa Christiansen's New Music Tuesday picks

Every Tuesday, On The Coast's Lisa Christiansen chooses a few of the best new music releases, and this week, she says, there's a rootsy minor chord feel to go along with these dog days of summer.

1. Rae Spoon is a transgender singer songwriter and musician who hails from Calgary, but now calls Montreal home. Spoon prefers to use gender neutral pronouns, so we shall as well. Today they release My Prairie Home and also coming out today is the trailer for the National Film Board doc of the same name. Both explore Spoon's journey personally and geographically into their new life as a trans entertainer and writer. From the album, this is I Will be a Wall.

2. Glen Campbell is a country music legend. His career began in the 1950s and today he releases what will probably be his last album. Campbell was diagnosed with Alzheimers in 2011 and has spent the last few months re-doing some of his classics for the album See You There. He still has command of his beautiful voice and his already melancholy songs become that much sadder this time around. Here's the official video for Hey Little One, a song he first recorded in 1968.

3. The Moondoggies hail from Everett, Washington and today release their third album, Adios, I'm A Ghost. Our neighbours to the south never seem to run out of of bearded folk rockers; think Fleet Foxes, Blitzen Trapper, Band of Horses and now you can add The Moondoggies to the list of your faves. Have a listen to Red Eye.
