Friends, family, teammates and even strangers are remembering 16-year-old Jordan Boyd, who died unexpectedly Monday during tryouts for the Acadie-Bathurst Titan of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League.

The cause of death is so far unknown and the team has said Boyd had a medical check-up before training camp.

Boyd's untimely death has triggered an outpouring of grief and sympathy online. The RIP Jordan Boyd Facebook page has nearly 40,000 followers

YouTube user Liam Cavanagh has created a heartbreaking video about Boyd's life that has garnered more than 60,000 views. And Cavanagh didn't even know Boyd.

"I made this video for any family member, friend, or even stranger of Jordan Boyd. I did not know this young man personally, but his story of chasing his dreams has inspired me as well as many others. He will be missed," Cavanagh wrote on his video post.

By all accounts, Boyd was a promising young man.

The head of Boyd's school, Paul Kitchen, told the National Post the teen was a gentle giant.

"Jordan is a fine, fine young man who worked hard at his academics, who worked hard at his relationship with others," Kitchen said. "He’s been taken from us and it doesn’t make sense to any of us."
