Vogue September Issues: Jennifer Lawrence, Halle Berry And Other Beautiful Covers (PHOTOS)

Vogue's Best September Covers

"September is the January of fashion."

So said Vogue editor-at-large Candy Pratts Price in the 2009 documentary "The September Issue" which followed Vogue superstars Anna Wintour, Grace Coddington and their Jimmy Choo-clad minions as they put together the most important issue of the year, which, at the time, was their biggest to date.

Every year one in 10 American women buy Vogue's September issue, according to the documentary, to find out what fall fashion trends they should make room for in their closets for and to peruse the first editorial photos that feature the fall collections, which went down the runways some six months prior. (It also signals a fresh start to a new school year, where students typically show off their new wardrobe.)

This year, "The Hunger Games" star Jennifer Lawrence nabbed Vogue's coveted September cover, becoming a member of an elite club which includes Kate Moss, Lady Gaga, Halle Berry, Keira Knightley, Charlize Theron and Nicole Kidman.

The 2013 issue clocks in at a back-breaking 902 pages which falls just short of last year's record-smashing 916 pages (which includes a ton of ads, natch).

So, to celebrate Vogue's favourite month of the year, we take a look into the 121-year-old magazine's past September covers (and include some British Vogue covers as well).
