Edmonton Cycling Awareness Videos Use Creative Lego Cast (VIDEO)

WATCH: Witty Lego Characters Explain Road Rules
City of Edmonton

Learning the rules of the road don't always have to be boring, thanks to the City of Edmonton's new cycling awareness program.

Cheeky plastic Lego characters are cast as part of the "Let’s Get There Together" videos, which aim to show drivers and cyclists how to come to a mutual respect on busy streets.

In a series of videos, including 'Dial S for Sharrow' and 'Bicycle Police,' the plastic toys make jokes, lay down the rules and insist that cyclists and drivers can get along.

"Man I wish they made plastic toy donuts," says a Lego 'bike police' member, before spotting an errant biker.

"Nooooooooooooo!" he cries out, dramatically flying through the air to stop the cyclist.

The Lego cop then quizzes the cyclist on how dashed bike lanes work, providing a hilarious, yet informative, learning opportunity.

The Lego cast was purchased on Amazon and eBay and filmed by Jeff Allen Productions, the Edmonton Journal reports. The city budgeted between $35,000 and $40,000 for the videos to increase awareness in anticipation of seven new bike lanes being added in the fall, the Journal adds.

The videos have between 300-600 views on YouTube so far. Another video, uploaded a year ago uses Lego to demonstrate the use of bike boxes, has over 16,000 views.

Check out the hilarious vignettes below. Do you think these videos could help build better relationships between cyclists and drivers? Let us know what you think in the comments.
