Prince George, Cariboo campfire bans lifted

Break out the marshmallows. Campfire bans are being rescinded today in the Cariboo and the Prince George Fire centres.

Campfires will be permitted again starting at noon in both areas due to a decreased risk for wildfires. Campfires can't be bigger than half a metre wide by half a metre tall, and anyone whote lights a fire must have a hand tool, such as a shovel, or at least eight litres of water nearby to fully extinguish the campfire.

All other open burning remains prohibited within both the Cariboo and Prince George Fire centres, including burning of industrial or backyard waste.

Campfire bans remain in place for the Kamloops and and the majority of the Coastal Fire centres.
