Nova Scotia sets up new centres aimed at helping families with young children

HALIFAX - The Nova Scotia government is opening four centres across the province to provide families with easier access to services for young children.

The so-called early years centres will be set up in Halifax, Sydney Mines, Monastery and Yarmouth.

Education Minister Ramona Jennex says the centres will provide early intervention programs, before- and after-school programs, regulated child care, early learning programs and parent education.

She says programs will be tailored to meet the needs of each community.

The new centres are expected to open early next year.
