Internet Scam Hits Lake Louise Area


RCMP are warning Albertans about a known Internet scam that has resurfaced in the Lake Louise area.

While officials are still trying to determine the exact websites which carry the virus, police say the virus attacks while victims are browsing the Internet.

While surfing, the victim's computer is locked onto a screen telling them that they have violated a section of Canadian Law and requires the victim to pay a fine of $150 to unlock the using a "UKASH" card.

According to RCMP, the scam uses the RCMP on the screen to make it look more official.

The investigation is ongoing and is being referred to the Anti-Fraud Centre.
