Man dies after being pulled from Lake Ontario overnight

A man fell into Lake Ontario overnight. Police were called and pulled him from the water, but were unable to save his life.

At about 12:15 a.m. on Sunday, Peel Regional Police received a call about a man who fell into the water near the west wall of J.C. Saddington Park in Mississauga.

Sgt. Matt Small said that when police arrived at the scene, they found the man's brother in the water trying to locate him.

Ninety minutes after police first arrived at the scene, the man was pulled from the water.

"CPR was commenced immediately and he was rushed to a local hospital in critical condition and unfortunately he passed away," Small told reporters on Sunday afternoon.

Small said that the man who was pulled from the water had been at the park with his brother and two other females. Police believe that some drinking had been occurring.

"There's nothing suspicious about what occurred," Small said.

"There is no indication that he actually jumped in, he’d fallen in the water."
