The complaint by Hai Xia Sun that she was discriminated against because of her accent in a B.C. fast food outlet has been resolved amicably, the McDonald's store owner said in a statement Monday.
The owner of the Richmond McDonald's franchise where Hai alleges the mistreatment occurred, met with her and her friend Monday, the statement confirms.
"It was a constructive meeting where I provided Ms. Sun and her friend with an apology for the misunderstanding which they have both accepted," store owner Joe Guzzo's statement reads.
An invitation to meet was also extended to Hai's son, Frank Zhao. Zhao had said earlier that the incident reflected badly on Canada's global image.
On Friday, McDonald's Canada responded to the allegations with a statement denying there was any racism involved. The incident was referred to as a "very simple misunderstanding."

I met with the customer and her friend today. We had extended the invitation for the meeting to her son so we could engage in a face-to-face discussion and learn from the recent experience. It was a constructive meeting where I provided Ms. Sun and her friend with an apology for the misunderstanding which they have both accepted. We are extremely pleased to have reached a resolution.
Clarification: Hai Xia Sun's son, Frank Zhao attended Monday's meeting with his mother and her friend.
