Fiery crash near Quesnel, B.C. probed

Police are continuing to investigate a fiery crash north of Quesnel, B.C. today.

On Wednesday afternoon, a northbound car crossed the centre line on Highway 97 and crashed head-on into a southbound chip truck about 25 kilometres north of Quesnel, RCMP said.

Both vehicles caught fire.

The fire then spread to the trees along the highway, and crews from the forest ministry had to be called in to battle the fire.

The highway was closed for a number of hours.

Traffic remains restricted to single lane traffic Thursday morning.

Police have not yet confirmed how many people were in the car at the time of the crash.

The driver of the chip truck was not injured.
