Western U Pulls Plug On Sean Kingston Frosh Concert

Western University pulled the plug on an Orientation Week performance featuring singer Sean Kingston, after learning he had been accused of involvement in a sexual assault in the United States.

The London, Ont., university issued a news release Friday saying that Kingston’s Sept. 7 performance had been cancelled after the school learned the singer was facing a civil suit over his alleged involvement in the sexual assault.

The decision to cancel Kingston's appearance was made jointly by Western and the University Students' Council.

According to the news release, both Western and the USC "felt that while the case is before the courts, proceeding with the concert would undermine the university and the USC's efforts to educate students that Western has zero tolerance for sexual assault."

A report from says that the civil suit has since been settled, but it appears Western has no plans to reschedule the event.
