A 64-year-old Richmond cyclist is dead after an apparent hit-and-run collision on No. 5 Road.

Richmond Mounties were called to the 4400-block of No. 5 Road at 3:25 a.m. Monday after residents found a cyclist lying on a sidewalk after being struck. Attempts to revive the man were unsuccessful, according to a Monday news release from the RCMP.

Police say they found a license plate at the scene and later tracked down a 26-year-old driver and vehicle. Police took the man into custody and seized his vehicle as part of the investigation.

No charges have been laid and the victim has not been identified.
