A speed-hungry Calgary motorcycle rider was shackled and arrested after he was allegedly caught nearly tripling the speed limit along a highway west of the city.
The rider was allegedly clocked travelling at 235 km/h in an 80 km/h zone along Highway 762, south of Bragg Creek over the long weekend, said Turner Valley RCMP Cst. Tom Christie.
The driver was stopped, arrested and charged criminally for dangerous driving, said Christie.
The nabbing came in the middle of a weekend that saw several deaths, as well as incidents of severe injury, on Alberta highways.

A Monday night collision killed a woman after a head-on crash near Hay Lakes, southeast of Edmonton.
"Once on scene it was learned that a lone female in the southbound car was deceased," said Camrose RCMP Cst. Trent Kenyon.
"There were two males in the northbound truck and both taken to hospital with undetermined injuries. Alcohol and drugs are not believed to be a factor."
Also on Monday, a 59-year-old man was struck and killed by a vehicle driven by a 24-year-old man as the victim crossed a street in Lac La Biche in northern Alberta, according to Mounties.
"Bystanders who were close by provided first aid and started CPR on the male victim," said Cst. Chris Clark.
"The male was then transported by ambulance to hospital where he passed away a short time later."
No charges have been laid in relation to that fatality.
Another head-on crash claimed the life of a 24-year-old woman southwest of Edmonton.
The driver collided with a semi while travelling along Highway 624 between Range Roads 62 and 63 on Sunday evening.
"The 61-year-old male driver and lone occupant of the semi trailer truck was examined at the scene by EMS personnel but did not require further medical care," said Drayton Valley RCMP Staff Sgt. Brian Jones.
Charges are not anticipated in relation to the crash, said Jones.
Meanwhile, hitting a moose along Highway 16 west of Hinton sent a woman to hospital in serious condition in a crash that also claimed the life of the car's passenger.
The crash, which involved a small car, occurred Sunday night and is still under investigation, Mounties said.
