Environment Canada To Probe Cold Lake Bitumen Spill

EDMONTON - Environment Canada will conduct its own investigation into the unusual bitumen spill on CNRL's Cold Lake in situ oilsands project about 250 kilometres northeast of Edmonton.

Federal officials declined to disclose the basis for their investigation at four sites where sticky bitumen continues to ooze up from underground fissures into the muskeg and into a wetland on the federal Cold Lake Air Weapons Range.
