Tuition fees at universities in Maritimes increase between 2.1 and 8.8 per cent

FREDERICTON - The Maritime Provinces Higher Education Commission says tuition fees for undergraduate arts and science students at universities in the region have increased between 2.1 and 8.8 per cent for this school year.

The organization released figures that say tuition fees vary by school, ranging between $5,360 and $7,270.

In New Brunswick, for instance, the fees are between $5,379 and $7,245, while in Prince Edward Island tuition costs $5,360.

In Nova Scotia, where undergraduate tuition fee increases are capped at three per cent, tuition costs anywhere between $6,000 and $7,270.

The commission says additional mandatory fees such as those for student associations and athletics vary from $229 to $1,108.
