Senior dies after 3-vehicle crash in Richmond

A 78-year-old woman is dead after a three-vehicle accident in Richmond, B.C., Wednesday.

A car carrying four people collided with a van at Blundell and Number 5 roads, before crashing into a third vehicle.

The woman was one of five people taken to hospital. Three others have been discharged, while one person is still receiving treatment.

Richmond RCMP do not yet know what caused the collision and are asking any witnesses to come forward.

Cpl. Stephanie Ashton urged drivers to take care as they get back to their normal routines after the summer vacation.

"It tends to be a heavier time for traffic...So, just maybe take it a little slower, be a little more cautious with your driving in the city and on the roads into the city," she said.
