Record heat today for parts of B.C. South Coast

Wednesday will be the hottest day this week for much of the South Coast with a high-pressure system leading to more sunshine and summer temperatures, says CBC meteorologist Johanna Wagstaffe.

YVR will likely not break a record even if we hit 26 C (the record to beat is 28.9 C), but a handful of records across the Lower Mainland and the Fraser Valley have been broken, including Victoria Airport (29 C), University of Victoria (26.1 C), Squamish (33.1 C), Pitt Meadows (30.2 C), and Nanaimo (29.7 C).

Coastal areas will watch for morning fog again Thursday and Friday, but we get to keep the sunshine and temperatures will only be a 1 C or 2 C cooler than today.

At this point, it looks like a change in the weather pattern happens Sunday afternoon for a much cooler and wetter start to next week.
