Brandon Harrison, 20, is still not able to move parts of his body but his parents say he is a survivor.
Harrison began his trip with his father in St. John's, N.L., on May 14.
He is raising funds and awareness for cancer and heart and stroke disease.
They had covered more than 5,400 kilometres when Harrison suffered a stroke in Red Deer, Alta., last weekend.
Harrison survived cancer at the age of two and battled back from a brain aneurysm and stroke at age 15.
His father, Floyd Harrison, says he hopes they will be able to finish their fundraising mission.
