Chris Hadfield has brought his out-of-this-world music back to Alberta.
The retired astronaut took to the stage in Edmonton last night, backed by the Barenaked Ladies, to perform the collaborative space jam, "I.S.S. (Is Somebody Singing)."
Hadfield, in collaboration with Barenaked Ladies frontman Ed Roberston, wrote the song earlier this year while zooming through space at a speed of over 17,500 miles per hour.
The pair originally performed the song in February, as part of a nation-wide sing-a-long, with Hadfield beaming in his guitar and vocals from the International Space Station.
In Edmonton yesterday as a keynote speaker for Edmonton's E-town Conference, Hadfield makes his way to the EPCOR Centre in Calgary this evening to perform another interstellar concert as part of the Beakerhead event.
It's Hadfield's first trip back to the prairie province since he served as parade marshal for this year's Calgary Stampede.
Canada is no stranger to Hadfield's love of song.
While Commander of the International Space Station, Hadfield entertained millions worldwide by posting videos of his musical talents to YouTube.
His cover of David Bowie's "Space Oddity," which he performed while floating around the spacecraft, has racked up more than 17 million views.
