Emergency room at Cape Breton hospital to reopen Sunday

NORTH SYDNEY, N.S. - The Cape Breton District Health Authority says the emergency room at Northside General Hospital in North Sydney, N.S., will reopen Sunday.

The health authority says the emergency room is set to open at 8 a.m. after it was closed Friday night because it was over capacity.

It says the closure was necessary because the physician scheduled to work the night shift was sick.

Anyone in need of emergency room services before Sunday morning should call 911 or go to the Cape Breton Regional Hospital in Sydney.

The authority says anyone with non-urgent health issues can call 811 to speak with a registered nurse.
