Toronto man dies after unprovoked attack at café

A man was fatally stabbed "without provocation" at a Toronto café on the weekend and another man now stands accused of first-degree murder, police say.

According to a Toronto police news release, the incident occurred at the Rotana Café at 1530 Danforth Ave., shortly after 1 a.m. on Saturday.

Police say the victim was sitting down when he was attacked. He was rushed to hospital with life threatening injuries, which he succumbed to on Monday.

The victim has been identified as 45-year-old Dominic Parker of Toronto.

Shortly after the attack occurred, a Toronto man was arrested.

Nabil Huruy, 23, was initially charged with attempted murder, two counts of carrying a concealed weapon and a single count of weapons dangerous.

Police say he now faces a charge of first-degree murder following the victim’s death.
