Michael Bernal Zamora, Britannia Secondary Stabbing Suspect, Charged

A 17-year-old boy is in hospital in serious condition after he was stabbed in a field near Britannia Secondary School on Monday night.

Vancouver police responded to reports of a fight in the field at around 11:30 p.m. They arrived to find a teen who had suffered a severe slash wound to the neck, police said in a news release.

UPDATE: Michael Bernal Zamora has been charged with aggravated assault in connection with the stabbing at Britannia Secondary School, Vancouver police said in a news release.

The teen was admitted to hospital and underwent surgery Tuesday morning. A 23-year-old Vancouver man has been arrested in connection with the incident and police will seek charges for attempted murder.

Police say that there were about 20 people present when the stabbing took place and many left the scene before officers could speak with them.
