A travel advisory on Via's website lists multiple train cancellations and includes Trains 38, 44, 45, 46, 48, 51, 59, 644, 656. Via says these routes will be replaced with service provided by charted buses. Trains 50 and 54 will also use chartered buses for service between Brockville, Ont. and Ottawa. Train service between Montreal and Ottawa will be unaffected.

Via Rail could not be reached immediately for further details.

The crash happened in Ottawa's west end, near the intersection of Woodroffe Rd. and Fallowfield Ave., not far from Fallowfield Via Rail station. Early details about the crash suggest the bus was heading Northbound and drove through the lowered rail crossing. Moments later the 51 Train, westbound for Toronto, collided with the bus.

Six people — all from the bus — were killed according to Ottawa Fire Services. Officials say that 31 people have been sent to hospital.

Relatives of passengers seeking more invormation are advised to contact the City of Ottawa at 311. Passengers looking for more info regarding delays can call Via Rail at 1-888-842-7245.

Please check back later, this is a developing story.
