New report says decline in breast cancer mortality in New Brunswick

FREDERICTON - A new report says the number of New Brunswick women who die from breast cancer is falling.

The report by the New Brunswick Cancer Network is based on data collected between 1996 and 2009.

It shows a 12 per cent decrease in breast cancer deaths and an increase in the number of women getting breast cancer screening.

The report says breast cancer is still the most frequently diagnosed cancer and the second leading cause of death among New Brunswick women.

It estimates there will be 550 new cases and 110 deaths in 2013.
