Suspects in social housing home invasion identified

Police have identified the couple accused of committing a home invasion that targeted a building for residents with a history of mental illness.

Said Egal, 19, has been arrested and is charged with two counts of robbery, possession of a dangerous weapon and having property obtained by crime.

Police are still looking for 27-year-old Jennifer Mulumba and have issued a Canada-wide warrant for her arrest.

The two are accused of entering a building operated by the charity Houselink at 184 Harbord Street last week.

It's alleged that after "using deceit" to get through the front door, the suspects stormed into an apartment, where they used a knife to steal cash, credit cards and personal items from a man and three women inside.

The male suspect also punched a 59-year-old woman in the nose and taking a necklace she was wearing during the home invasion.

Police released security footage of the suspects shortly after the incident.

Police are asking anyone with information as to the whereabouts of Jennifer Mulumba to contact police at 416-808-7350, or call Crime Stoppers anonymously at 416-222-TIPS (8477). Tips can also be submitted online at at, or by texting TOR and your message to CRIMES (274637).
