1 sunny day before winter-like storm hits this weekend

Clouds will begin to roll in this evening, and the rain will begin Friday morning with the first of a couple storm systems, says CBC meteorologist Johanna Wagstaffe.

Rain may become heavy at times through Friday morning as the cold front slides across Metro Vancouver, but it will taper to showers by the afternoon.

The next, much more powerful storm system will arrive for Saturday morning with heavy rain and strong winds lasting through the weekend. Rainfall totals by Sunday night may exceed 100 mm for coastal sections.

At this point it looks like snow levels may get down to 1,500 m which will mean snow for the Okanagan Connector Friday, and throughout the weekend.

Wet, cool and unsettled weather prevails through at least early next week as systems continue to track onto our coast.
